Profile

Engineer and Architect, Elsa Sanfilippo earned her Master’s Degree in Building Engineering–Architecture in 2011, with a thesis on the design of a hotel with a wellness center. In 2012, she won a funded PhD position at the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo, developing a dissertation on building energy efficiency and the restoration of existing architectural heritage. During her three-year research period, she co-founded, together with several university professors, PADesign srl, an innovative start-up and academic spin-off of the University of Palermo.

In 2013, she collaborated in London with the architectural firm Ongreening Ltd and with UEL (University of East London). From 2011 to 2015, she served as a tutor for academic workshops and authored both national and international scientific publications. Since 2015, she has been a PhD in Architecture, devoting her professional activity mainly to the design of wellness-oriented spaces, further specializing in Hospitality and Wellness Design.

Since 2016, she has been a lecturer in the Second Level Master’s program “Materials and Innovative Techniques for Sustainable Building,” in the “Hotel Design Solution” course at Poli.Design in Milan, and at “Sou,” the School of Architecture for children at Farm Cultural Park in Favara.
